Those who have visited the Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries in the last couple of weeks will have noticed the fine new noticeboard recently installed by the Ladywell entrance. This was paid for by the Localities Fund. The FOBLC has now put in a bid in for a similar noticeboard which would be placed the Brockley Road entrance, as well as a joint bid for a nature/walking trail leaflet for Ladywell (which will include part of the Ladywell Cemetery). If you live in or use facilities in the Ladywell area, we would appreciate your support! Below is the link to the Ladywell Ward Assembly page ... Read Full Story

Brockley and Ladywell will both stage Christmas markets again this year and they are hopefully establishing themselves as part of the local calendar. Both will again take place on the same day, which is not intended to be a tradition, but the organisers of Brockley's market have had to change the date they originally planned. More about the Brockley's market soon, but here are some details for this year's Ladywell Christmas Market, courtesy of the Ladywell Village Improvement Group: For those who don't already know, the market will take place at Railway Terrace Ladywell on Saturday 12th December from 10am to 4pm. We are ... Read Full Story

The new notice board for the FOBLC (Friends of Brockley & Ladywell Cemeteries) is now up at the Ladywell Road end of the cemeteries, and looking very smart. This is one of the items funded by last year's localities fund. Ute has just posted details of bids for this year's fund, and how you can have your say . (I'm cheating and pre-dating this post by an hour or so, in order for the poll post to stay at the top for a while!). On the downside, this smart new notice board makes the various council ones at the Ladywell end of the cemetery ... Read Full Story

Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock and Councillor Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of Lewisham visited two L&Q estates in Lewisham on Friday 12th November. The aim of the visit was to see the progress that had been made following the transfer of the estates from Lewisham Council to L&Q, one of the UK’s leading housing association. Accompanied by representatives from L&Q they first visited Lewisham Park which transferred to L&Q in April 2007...

Continuing with the World Wars One and Two remembrance theme, Lewisham Local History and Archives Centre is hosting the interesting Lewisham War Memorials wiki, seeking to document the various local war memorials that exist or have existed. There are 10 for Brockley, 19 for Deptford and 15 for New Cross, among many others.I find the ones that have vanished particularly poignant. For instance at the long gone South East London Synagogue in New...

When a few days ago I received a copy of the Councillors’ questions for next Council (thanks to Cllr Mike Keogh for sending them to me) I saw that one of them (Q 64) had already the answer provided, presumably because the answer could be given by the officer that attends at questions, it’s in [...]

Both of them have planning permission from the Council. As both Brockley Central and Max Calo report, 'This coming Thursday 12th November, at 7:30pm at the Tabernacle, Algernon Road SE13 7AT there will be a public meeting held by the...
