A community portal about Liberal Party of Canada with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Liberal Party of Canada, colloquially known as the Grits, is a Canadian federal political party positioned around the centre of the political spectrum, combining a progressive social policy with moderate economics. The party has been frequently dubbed "Canada's natural governing party", since it has been in power most of the time since the Great Depression, and starting with Wilfrid Laurier in 1896 every leader of the party has served as Prime Minister of Canada. The party has formed the Official Opposition in the Parliament of Canada since February 2006.

It’s crazy, after weeks of tense anticipation, I sat down in my living room to read about the elections. And by election I mean the Canadian elections , (not the American elections which are, by the way, far more entertaining than our own) and by tense anticipation I mean I was hoping one candidate would accidentally quote Stalin, or perhaps be seen sporting a visible erection. Assuming, of course none, of them suffers from erectile dysfunction... Read Full Story
What should come as no surprise to anyone, Bob Rae has called er’ quits. I’m guessing the clincher was the severed horse head in his bed.
Michael Ignatieff has secured the federal Democrat , uh…Liberal leadership without a fight after his last remaining obstacle, Bob Rae, bowed out.
After all this hoopla, I’m guessing Bob isn’t going over to Michael’s place this Christmas. Well…maybe just to pee in the punchbowl.
Rae informed his supporters of his decision during a conference call... Read Full Story
If former Liberal candidate Lesley Hughes is an antisemite, then George Bush is Mahatma Ghandi, Stephen Harper is Mother Theresa and Stephane Dion is capable of leading Canada.
Of course, none of the above is true. In dumping Hughes, a well respected Winnipeg journalist and social activist, Dion has buckled under the pressure of the pro-Israel lobby and proven himself incapable of developing independent foreign policy for Canada. How else are we to judge a man who accepts the nonsense that... Read Full Story

QUEBEC — Any attempt to counter terrorists in war-torn Afghanistan will not succeed without an intervention in neighbouring Pakistan, Liberal Leader Stephane Dion said Wednesday.
Dion hinted NATO could take action in Pakistan, which has a porous border with Afghanistan, if the Pakistani government doesn’t move to track terrorists.

TV Ontario's The Agenda debates the question of how long Stephane Dion and the Liberal Party can, or should, endure the Conservative government's electoral brinksmanship. Steve Paikin moderates, as Professor Christine de Clercy, Dion biographer Linda Diebel, journalist John Ivison, lobbyist Robin Sears, and I grapple with one another's hyperbole. Nevertheless, let’s simplify things and give Terry 10 good reasons why voting NDP is still a lot easier than voting Liberal, particularly Stephane Dion Liberal.
1. Kyoto. Stephane Dion leads a party, and was a cabinet minister in a Liberal government for most of 13 years when Canada increased greenhouse gases by 30 per cent instead of keeping a Kyoto promise to cut them by 20 per cent, a worse record than even the U.S. under George W. Bush.
2. B.C. Backers. Dion’s endorsers in British... Read Full Story
A recent hoo ha ha has blown up in Canada when it was discovered that the former Canadian opposition leader, Stephen Harper now PM, gave an address on the Iraq War in 2003, a few days after John Howard spoke on the same subject, which used large tracts of Howard’s speech without recognition. Harper’s speech writer has subsequently resigned for plagiarism, while the opposition leader Stephane Dion seems to be insinuating that George Bush was giving speech templates out to fellow leaders to...
