Lindsey Vonn of the USA Women's Alpine Skiing looks on during a press conference where she announced she may not compete in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics on February 10, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada. Vonn spends a lot of her time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany training and visiting her friend and competitor Maria Riesch, so maybe she picked it up there.

She and her husband Thomas Vonn usually spend Christmas Eve in Germany, and Lindsey is also good friends with Riesch's sister Susanne. Plus, many of her trainers are Austrian, so it's not really a surprise that the pretty blonde skiier is quite the linguist.

However, Lindsey does not speak French. She won a competition in France a few years back and came home with a pet cow, because a cheese company sponsored the event, and the skiier decided she wanted the cow, not her prize money. She couldn't speak French, so it took a lot of translating to seal the deal, but eventually they agreed to give her the odd trophy. So, she took Olympe the cow to Austria, where the U.S. ski team typically stays during the European racing season.
