From:  afp.com
David Beckham is dreaming of a return to Old Trafford ahead of Friday's draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League, which could see Manchester United paired with AC Milan. Beckham is due to return to Milan in January for a second loan spell and, with United among the seeds for the draw in Switzerland, they are one of six teams the English champions could face in February. Beckham left United for Real Madrid in 2003 and has not yet come up against the club where he made his name and... Read Full Story

Pulis tells Wenger to stop fixture moans

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has told Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger to stop "moaning like a drain" about fixture congestion, saying the Gunners ought to be able to play three games in a week. Wenger was also unhappy with Wolves manager Mick McCarthy's decision to field a second-string side in a 3-0 defeat by the London club's top four rivals Manchester United on Tuesday. The Frenchman, speaking after Arsenal's 1-1 Premier League draw with Burnley on Wednesday, slammed a fixture list which... Read Full Story

The New Jersey Nets long wait for free agency

From:  sportschump.net
December 9th, 2009 by Chris Humpherys Lots of things in life suck. Crime, disease, poverty and yes… the New Jersey Nets. Not necessarily in that order. Twenty-one games into this NBA season, the Nets are a lowly 2-19. That is not a misprint. The basketball season started six weeks ago and the Nets have recorded only two wins to go with their nineteen losses. Their two wins came against the Charlotte Hornets last week and the Chicago Bulls last night. The Nets are losing games... Read Full Story

Manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Drogba is doubtful for Wednesday's Premier League match with bottom club Portsmouth, in which Chelsea will be looking for their first win in five matches in all competitions. Ancelotti claimed to be unconcerned about Chelsea's recent run of three defeats and a draw. But he admitted that his work on the... Read Full Story

McLeish happy to turn tables on Birmingham critics

From:  afp.com
Alec McLeish has described the five-match winning run that has hoisted Birmingham to sixth in the Premier League as the perfect riposte to those who tipped the club for relegation. A 2-1 win over Blackburn on Tuesday, secured by a Cameron Jerome double, extended Birmingham's best run of victories since the launch of the Premier League in 1992 and their best top flight sequence since 1983. Former Scotland manager McLeish insists the priority remains survival but, with new owner Carson Yeung... Read Full Story

From:  afp.com
Tottenham Hotspur's bid for a top four finish suffered a major blow when Kevin Doyle's third minute goal claimed an unexpected 1-0 win for struggling Wolves at White Hart Lane here on Saturday. Victory moved Mick McCarthy's side out of the English Premier League's bottom three while casting serious doubt over Spurs' ability to maintain a sustained challenge at the head of the table. Harry Redknapp's side were lacking in ideas and their afternoon ended on a sour note when left-back Benoit... Read Full Story
