It's important to remember before setting out on any shopping expedition that size is relative these days. A woman can easily fit into a size 4 in one brand of clothing, while she needs to take an 8 or 10 in another brand.

So forget about the numbers, and try on as many lines and styles of clothing as you can when you shop. This way, you'll find pieces that really work on your body. You'll also get a sense of whether one line has trousers that all seem to fit just right, or a bunch of sweaters that look just the way you want them to, and thus, you'll be able to go back to that brand for more items in future shopping trips.
