November real estate closed sales were off quite a bit from previous months this year, a hang over, I think, from the financial crisis which hit the radar in September. Only nine single family homes sold, the average sale price was $183,678. There is good news on the horizon: prices are more affordable than the past five or six years and 30 year fixed mortgage interest rates (for qualified buyers) will be under 6%, around 5.25%. There were 24 home and lot sales pending as of the end of... Read Full Story
Greetings on a beautiful, sunny and 70's New Year's Day from Pine Island, Florida. I am excited about beginning a New Year and am convinced that 2008 marked the turning of the lowest point in the Pine Island Real Estate Market since 2003. Total dollar volume for Pine Island Real Estate Sales in 2008 (for real estate sold through the multiple listing service) was $50,843,760. This represented 244 real estate transactions. The dollar volume was about 1 Million Dollars less than in 2007, but... Read Full Story
I've had a busy month showing/selling real estate and took a little time off (after buying some mahi mahi at Andy's Island seafood in Matlacha) to take a few photo's of the local scene in Matlacha. Here are pictures of sunbathers at the Bridgewater Inn, a father and son fishing at the base of the Matlacha bridge, and the new shop, Bluewater Antiques, across from Andy's, also in Matlacha. It was a beautiful, sunny and breezy day, temperatures just under 80 degrees. For more information about... Read Full Story
A rare Saturday without work scheduled, we took some time to give the horses a good bath this morning. They really seemed to like it and then went out for a good roll in the hay. Finally the temperatures are below 90 degrees and I hope to go horse back riding tomorrow morning early. October and November are great months on Pine Island. Temperatures are falling a little bit on Pine Island, now that it is nearly fall. I've been enjoying riding my bike on the 17 miles of island bike paths. Yesterday I rode up to the tip of Bokeelia and found this cool, apparently home-made, yellow boat docked in the Back Bay section of Bokeelia. Real estate prices are now extremely reasonable. With winter approaching up north, it could be the time to find your perfect southern get away on beautiful, affordable, natural Pine Island. For more... Read Full Story
I enjoyed a really nice bike ride on the Bokeelia bike path this morning. Did you know the Pine Island bike path is nearly 17 miles long? My morning route usually takes me past Battie's landing where there are often kayakers setting out, and birds wading in the shallows, up to the Bokeelia marina where I took a picture of a pelican roosting. Also, here's a picture of one of the recently painted telephone poles, this of a jackfish.Larry from Anole computers added a weather button to my blog... Read Full Story

I'm looking ahead to a steady increase in real estate sales this fall and winter on Pine Island. To receive my paper newsletter, Pine Island Times, email me, Erika Foye, at erikafoye@embarqmail.com

I hope you like the new "header" photo on my blog. This is a photograph of the Bokeelia fishing pier overlooking Charlotte Harbor I took this morning. We've had a lot of rain this week but that is great for cooling things off a little, and making everything grow like crazy. Here is a picture of a bird of paradise just growing by the side of the road. I'm getting reports of good fishing from some of my clients though I haven't had time to go out fishing much lately, I hear snapper and... Read Full Story
A nice quiet Christmas with friends and family, here are a few pix of it around (and above) our place in Bokeelia. The weather was partly cloudy, in the low 80's but feeling warmer due to the humidity and all the cooking. Feliz Navidad to my readers from Erika Foye, All Island Realty, Inc. Read Full Story
Here is the 4th of July cake my daughters, Greta and Sheena, and I made yesterday. Recipe: One box angel food cake mix, make cake, cover with whipped cream, make stars and stripes from blueberries and strawberries...tastes great. Pine Island had its annual July 4 parade down our main street and there were various cookouts and fireworks around the island...we had a quiet day just chilling out by the pool.
