Here is the 4th of July cake my daughters, Greta and Sheena, and I made yesterday. Recipe: One box angel food cake mix, make cake, cover with whipped cream, make stars and stripes from blueberries and strawberries...tastes great. June, July and August are the peak of tropical fruit season on Pine Island. There are many varieties of mangos, different types ripen at various times in the summer. Here's a photo at a mango grove in Bokeelia. Spring has come with lots of wind and some rain, grass growing green. Here's couple pictures of riding (my friend Lisa/mare Baby) out in beautiful Bokeelia, and my backyard gopher tortoise. South east winds have been blowing up to 30 mph this week on Pine Island, and I am hoping they will blow some rain our way, it has been the driest winter and spring I can remember. The winds brought good wind surfing weather for my friends Cindy and Lisa and I took some pictures of them in Pine Island Sound yesterday. This weekend, March 7, will be the annual "Rubber Duck" races at Woody's Restaurant in St. James City, noon - 5 pm. Proceeds benefit the Calusa Land Trust, our local land preservation group. This week on Pine Island there were five single family home sales (two of them were bought by my clients!) and one lot sale. There were about 170 single family homes actively listed for sale this week. If the current rate of sales were to stay steady at five sales per week, that would be good.
