MAN at London Fashion Week

The menswear at MAN was a bit puzzling at times. Why, for instance, would a designer be compelled to crochet a manshrug at just the right length to show off one's nipples? Any ideas?
The collection, a collaboration of many designers (read more about them here) was alternately futuristic and retro. Some outfits could have been designed in 1992, like this self-explanatory ensemble:
