Lorena Ochoa and Jiyai Shin fought to the last hole for the LPGA's top player award. By the slimmest of margins, Ochoa won — and for the fourth straight year, too. She finished two strokes behind tournament winner Anna Nordqvist at the LPGA Tour Championship on Monday. The 22-year-old's final-round 65 was good enough to beat Ochoa in the weather-shortened event at 13 under par on Monday. Anna Nordqvist won the LPGA Tour Championship Monday as Lorena Ochoa seized her fourth straight Player of the Year award by one point over Jiyai Shin. Nordqvist, 22, fired a final-round 65 on Monday to finish 13-under par in the tournament reduced to 54 holes because of heavy rain over the weekend. Ochoa was two strokes back and secured the top player honor when South Korea's Shin couldn't chip in from the front of the 18th hole. Shin led Ochoa by eight points (156-148) in the Player of the Year race entering the season-ending event. Once Ochoa was sure of finishing second, Shin had ... Read Full Story

Michelle Wie withdrew from the season-ending LPGA Tour Championship because of a sprained left ankle Thursday, a few hours after Lorena Ochoa shot a 6-under 66 in breezy conditions to take a one-shot lead over Reilley Rankin. The 20-year-old Wie, fresh off her first LPGA victory last week at Ochoa's tournament in Mexico, shot a 72 in the afternoon. She limped through her round on the gimpy ankle that she sprained during the Solheim Cup in August. "I wanted to do everything I could do to fight through the injury," Wie said in a statement.
