Lorenzo Romar has two local high school stars on his radar, Josh Smith and Tony Wroten. If you've been to any Kentwood or Garfield games you might have actually seen Romar himself, sitting in the stands observing either Smith or Wroten. Josh Smith has also been to a home Husky game sitting in the recruiting section. If the Huskies were able to land Josh Smith, the Huskies would automatically be considered in the national top 10 for the 2010-11 season. Here is a look at what the starting lineup would look like: G- Abdul Gaddy So. G- Isaiah Thomas Jr. G- Venoy Overton Sr. ... Read Full Story

Should Lorenzo Romar win Pac-10 coach of the year? I've been saying Craig Robinson should win this award, but I've forgotten of how good Romar has got the Huskies playing this year. In my mind, there are currently three candidates up for the award, Romar, Robinson, and Mike Montgomery from Cal. Montgomery has turned around a Cal team to a top tier Pac-10 squad. Cameron Dollar has been an assistant under Lorenzo Romar for the past seven years, and now is at Seattle U with his first head coaching job. See what Coach Dollar had to say after the jump! What retired or current coaches have had the most influence on you? And why? I am influenced by Dean Smith, Rick Pitino and Bob Knight. All were very organized, intense, and detailed. I've been contacted by several sources within the UW program, Romar is bolting from Montlake down to the University of Arizona, where he will be named their new head coach. The players and assistant coaches at UW are shocked. Not only that he's leaving UW, but he's leaving UW for a Pac-10 rival. Arizona has reportedly thrown an enormous sum of money at Romar. Lute Olson has not been reached for a comment. Scott Woodward plans on a nation-wide search to find a new coach for the Huskies. Some names that have come up include Curtis Allen, former-UW player and coach at Portland St., ... Read Full Story

A week ago, all anyone could talk about was the potential of Washington and Gonzaga renewing their series. Well, a terse reply from Bulldogs AD Mike Roth and coach Mark Few's comment about the game's chances being "about the same as Bigfoot having my baby," put the kibosh on UW's proposal.
