Macintosh Symantec has discovered a file deleting “Trojan” targeting Mac users. But is it really a piece of malware or a valid but hazardous example of online art? The company malware team last week put out a stark warning about a bogus Apple Mac space invaders game that deletes files from the host system’s hard drive as the price of zapping aliens. Branding the deadly game as malware and giving it the name OSX.Loosemaque, the company has even gone to the bother of posting a video of the game behavior on YouTube. In the demonstration, playing the game is clearly shown to delete files ... Read Full Story

“Well, I just priced out a new workstation comparing the top of the line MacPro and an equivalently configured Dell. I ended up buying the 3.0Ghz version of the MacPro for $1000 cheaper than an equivalent Dell. I'll be honest: I read that and I thought you were lying. So I went and looked for myself, and sure enough, I can't duplicate your results. I can't get the Dell price down far enough. Only $1000 more expensive than the MacPro? Sadly, obsolete gadgets have to be replaced. Happily, change is good. This is what happened to Jerry Seinfeld's ever-present classic Macintosh which, after all these years, has been replaced by a new iMac. It happened in the "Seinfeld reunion" episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The iMac seems to be from the previous generation, not the 16:9 model.
