Mackenzie Rosman, Child Star from '7th Heaven,' Grows Into More Mature Roles

Mackenzie Rosman is known to 7th Heaven fans as the adorable little Ruthie Camden. But now she's grown up and audiences are about to get a chance to watch her in some more grown-up roles.

Mackenzie, now 19, will have a supporting role as Loreli in the upcoming film adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's Ligeia, and she will also appear as Jill in the horror/fantasy feature Fading of the Cries, which is due out in 2010. Both are far from the aggressively- goody feel of 7th Heaven. According to imdb.com, Ligeia has been given an R rating for "some sexual content, language, violence and brief drug use." And Fading of the Cries is a story about a girl trying to escape the demonic hordes trying to kill her.

Perhaps Mackenzie Rosman is following the lead of her 7th Heaven co-star Jessica Biel, who was written out of the show after becoming dissatisfied with the goody goody image the show had bestowed upon her. Biel upset producers by posing semi-nude for Gear magazine around the time her character on the show was going through a rebellious phase. That rebellious phase proved useful as writers sent Biel's character to live with her grandmother for some off-screen tough love.
