Mahima Chaudhry

Model turned actress, Mahima Chaudhary started modeling since her college days. Born as Ritu Chaudhary, this beauty from Darjeeling debuted with Subhash Ghai's 'Pardes' (1997). Her performance won rave reviews and bagged awards like Lux face of the year, Lux Zee Cine Best Female Debutant and Filmfare Best Female Debutant for the year 1997. Before getting into films, this ramp model did a short stint as a VJ for Channel V and has appeared in various commercials including Pepsi ad along with Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai. Though Mahima won many hearts with her bubbly presence and beautiful smile, her film career did not have a very smooth sail. But her initial performances were appreciated in movies like 'Daag-The Fire', 'Dil Kya Kare' (1999)etc.

Mahima Chaudhary may be baby-sitting at home, but the yummy mummy has lots of plans up her sleeve. This year, on the international women’s day, that is March 8th, Mahima and Tanuja Chandra , director of Hope and Little Sugar, in which Mahima plays the lead, are going to London where the Asian Women’s film festival will screen the film as its opening feature at the prestigious BAFTA theatre.

Says the director that in recent years, Women’s day has been quite adventurous for her. She has interacted with varied groups of people, filmmakers, and met some really dynamic women! It’s great to have a film with which you travel to different parts of the world and get a taste of what’s brewing in the female mind and heart internationally! Both the ladies return to the Indian release of the film at the end of March, which they are really looking forward to.
A film of mine is coming after a long break that says Mahima, and boy, am she is glad! She is so proud of this film and my work in it! Certainly, the duo, not so much in the thick of things currently, can hope for some sweet times ahead
