The MLB is the highest level a player can reach in professional baseball. More specifically, MLB refers to the organization that operates North American professional baseball's two major leagues, the National League and the American League. On an organizational level, MLB effectively operates as a single "league," and as such it constitutes one of the major professional sports leagues in North America. "Jeter Lovers / A-Rod Haters"

arodjeter

It's time for Jeter fans to stop knocking A-Rod.

Derek Jeter is a wonderful baseball player. Let's face it if Derek never stepped on the field again, the ten-time All-Star a first ballot Hall of Famer. In 14 full MLB seasons (2138 games) Jeter is now the all time Yankees hits leader with 2,747 (49th in MLB History), and over that time has averaged .317 BA, 17 HR, 81RBI, 107 RS, 23 SB. Derek won the ROY in 1996 and has had years where he has scored the most runs in the league (127 in 1998) and where he's had the most hits (219 in 1999). Including this past season, Derek has now won four Gold Gloves and has five top-10 MVP finishes (this year will certainly be a 6th).

jeterflipThe hustle and intangibles; simply amazing. Have you ever seen anyone standing at the right place at the right time more than Jeter? The Yankees Capitan has led them to 7 World Series trips in 14 full seasons and has won 5 of them. Think about that, the guy has played 14 full seasons and been in the World Series 7 times! And when it's playoff time that's when he's at his best. In 138 post season games he has .313 BA, 20 HR, 55 RBI, 99 RS, and 16 SB. Derek has averages 152 games per year so if you extrapolate that out to a full season for him adding 14 more games his post seas stats would average a season of .313 BA, 22 HR, 60 RBI, 108 RS, 17 SB.

Throw in Jeter's off the field prowess the guy never does or says anything wrong) and there is no doubt that Derek Jeter is a star in every sense of the word. But no matter how you slice hit, Derek Jeter is no A-Rod........

A-Rod the 12 time All-Star has played just about the same amount of games as Derek Jeter. He's played 27 more, 2166 - so the comparison is about as equal as you can get. Take into account that they've both played in the same era and for the most part against the same American League competition and you can't get any more of an accurate "who is better" than this. In those games A-Rod has averaged .305, 44 HR, 128 RBI, 126 RS, and 22 SB.
