Possessing the speed and the size to be a coveted NFL cornerback, Jenkins likely would have been among the first corners taken in last year's draft had he decided to declare. His heart was in chasing a national title, however, and likely was interested in further improving his stock so as to increase the size of his first paychecks. Besides, last year's draft was loaded with quality corners and the competition was likely much more stiff than it will be this year.
