Manager Jerry Narron
A zine about baseball manager Jerry Narron who was recently fired from the Cincinnati Reds.
Jerry Narron Canned
The 31-51 Cincinnati Reds have done what any crappy, last-place team would do. They fired manager Jerry Narron. The club will hold a press conference Monday where they plan to name top scout Pete Mackanin interim manager for the remainder of this season.
The Reds are pretty much on pace to lose 100 games for the first time since 1982. In three seasons under Narron's leadership, the club went 157-179.
Mackanin will become the 59th manager in Reds history after guiding the AAA Nashville Sounds in 1990-92 and rejoining the Reds last February as an advance scout.
The 55-year-old former infielder was the third base coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1997-2000, the bench coach from 2003-05 and has 21 seasons of managerial experience in the minor and winter leagues. This marks his second stint as an interim manager, as he covered the final 26 games of the 2005 season for the Pirates once they fired Lloyd McClendon.
So yeah. Good luck with the Reds, Mr. Mack.
