DeMarlo Hale is the new bench coach for the Boston Red Sox under manager Terry Francona. Hale, the team's third base coach the past four seasons, replaces Brad Mills, hired as manager of the Houston Astros last month. Tim Bogar, who served one season as Boston's first base coach, replaces Hale at third. The Red Sox announced two other new assignments on Monday. Red Sox manager Terry Francona intends to celebrate if Boston clinches the AL wild card. Before Friday night's series opener at the AL East-leading Yankees, Francona said winning World Series titles in 2004 and 2007 doesn't diminish the accomplishment of reaching the postseason as a second-place team.
