A dispute over doping test rules for the planned showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has jeopardized the long-awaited welterweight showdown, promoters claimed. It's uncertain, however, whether the testing issue is simply an over-hyped negotiating ploy aimed at Pacquiao or truly a deal-breaker that could scuttle a fight with the potential to be the biggest boxing moneymaker of all time. Mayweather has insisted upon stricter World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) test procedures for the fight rather than the usual methods, a change that would mandate blood tests for banned substances as well urine analysis. Mayweather's father, veteran trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr, has accused Pacquiao ... Read Full Story

WATCH ALL THE LATEST PACQUIAO VS MAYWEATHER VIDEOS By Edwin Espejo – For all of Manny Pacquiao’s 55 professional fights, I have only seen him live once, in 2006, when he tattooed the face of Oscar Larios over 12 rounds at the Araneta Coliseum. The bleachers of the Araneta Coliseum were barely half-full because of the prohibitive ticket prices. I was told some people were allowed in midway to the main event for free, which still did not fill the cavernous 20,000-seater 40-year-old coliseum. The adrenalin rush of watching championship fights live and at the ringside to boot is inexplicable. The ringside seat allows ... Read Full Story

WATCH ALL THE LATEST MANNY PACQUIAO VS FLOYD MAYWEATHER VIDEOS By Nick Giongco – The Canadian adviser of Manny Pacquiao said on Monday that “Floyd Mayweather simply has to go to church regularly to know where the Filipino’s vaunted strength and power come from.” Reacting to a statement made by Mayweather’s handlers that Pacquiao should undergo an Olympic-Style drug testing in the weeks leading to their March 13, 2010 fight, Mike Koncz said he welcomes Leonard Ellerbe’s demand that such tests be done to ensure that the two fighters are clean when they finally collide. “It’s amusing,” said Koncz from General Santos City, home ... The guys and gals at Silver Star are busy cooking up more shirts for Manny Pacquiao, which is good because though I have the previous one, I have two preschool children who don't necessarily need to see their dad walking around with crossed pistols on his chest. Anyway, the new Pacquiao shirt is called "Rising Son" and has boxing gloves on the front done up with gold foil. I'm not sure what the back looks like yet because the Silver Star site doesn't have a pic. The shirt will be available on December 23 (so not in time for Christmas unless you can convince ... David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press also reported today that the fight has been waved off by Mayweather's insistence on blood testing as opposed to urine testing for the fight. Mayweather was adamant about wanting to put Pacquiao through hoops in order to prove he is drug-free. The Pacquiao camp acquiesed to random...

Here’s what’s up: the possibility of the best fight in the last ten years — a potential classic for the ages — down the tubes. As a boxing fan, I will not attempt to gloss this over. This is big and very disturbing news. So let’s take this at face value. Let’s accept the latest reports and assume this fight is dead. What now? First, like a recovering addict, we need to admit we have a problem. People should acknowledge a problem with the...
