Marathon Training

FIRST-time marathon runner Jim Humble has won a place to run in the 2012 Mumbai Marathon with free flights to India, through development charity Sightsavers. Jim, aged 53, who lives in Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear but works for Stannah, began running in January 2011 and flew to India to run his first ever marathon on behalf of Sightsavers on Sunday.  

Some people call winter football or basketball season, but with the advent of cooler weather, January seems very much to be running season, especially with the ING Miami Marathon and Half- Marathon coming up in Jan. 29.  

A new 5km run-walk series designed to assist people training for the Saint Clair Vineyard half marathon begins on the banks of the Taylor River in Blenheim on Tuesday evening.  

The trainees are being instructed according to modules 5, 6 and 7 of NRHM for Asha workers. The modules focus on the development of leadership skills among others.
