Just a quick update on the health of quarterback Marc Bulger; according to the Rams’ Twitter account, they have announced the following:
QB Marc Bulger had MRI on Friday. Leg still broken, swelling down. Starting to heal but will be at least two more weeks.
I’m not a doctor nor pretend to be one. However, it seems to me that because this is a broken leg we’re talking about here, I would venture to say that with the season nearly complete, Bulger isn’t going to return... Read Full Story
St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger underwent tests for a possible concussion, as well as MRI exams on his groin, hamstring and swollen knee after a gruelling NFL loss to Arizona. "Marc Bulger's pretty banged up," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "Marc's got a few things going on." The possible concussion would the result of a blow to the head Bulger took in the fourth quarter of the game. Spagnuolo wasn't certain of Bulger's status for next week's game against Seattle. He said the injuries... Read Full Story
The St. Louis Rams got good news on wide receiver Donnie Avery, who underwent an MRI exam on his hip that revealed a bruise. They can't afford to lose any more players at a position that's been thin since training camp. Avery's injury early in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars deprived the winless Rams (0-6) of their only player able to stretch the field. Without him, the running game got shut down, especially in the second half, and the untested wide receivers the... Read Full Story
Video games are not among Marc Bulger's passions. He's not much of a typist, either, using what he refers to as the "pointer finger" whenever he must use a keyboard. But if you're the St. Louis Rams' quarterback, a broken pinkie is fairly serious stuff. Bulger missed the final three preseason games and took his first direct center snaps only four days before the opener, making the problematic digit a red flag for a franchise trying to move past a two-year stretch so dismal they landed the... NEW YORK (Reuters) - St. Louis Rams linebacker David Vobora has been suspended for four games after testing positive for a banned substance. The NFL said Vobora had violated the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but provided no other details in a statement on Tuesday. Vobora's agent Marc Lillibridge said on NFL.com that his client had failed a doping test after taking a supplement tainted with the banned substance. Lillibridge said Vobora was planning to sue the company... Read Full Story
New St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo knows the easy part is over. "It's nice to be 3-1 after the preseason, but like I told the players last night, the score counted when we played the games," Spagnuolo said Friday, one day after the Rams beat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-9. "It doesn't matter now. We're moving on. "I'm perfectly aware that all of this is a honeymoon period. The real challenge is upcoming." That challenge begins for St. Louis on Sept. 13, when the Rams open the season in... Read Full Story
Published and broadcast reports say radio personality Rush Limbaugh and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts are joining together in a bid to purchase the St. Louis Rams. KMOX Radio and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch report that the Checketts group has made a bid on the Rams and would keep the team in St. Louis. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment to The Associated Press on Tuesday, and the Rams said in a statement that a "strategic review" continues. In a statement to KMOX, Limbaugh... Four days away from the opener, Marc Bulger took direct snaps for the first time since breaking his right pinkie. The Rams quarterback said Wednesday he's not pain-free, but it's good enough, barring a setback in the next two days, to play at Seattle. "I wouldn't say no discomfort," Bulger said. "But it was bearable. If it goes like today, I'd say I'm starting 100 percent." Coach Steve Spagnuolo also announced that offensive tackle Jason Smith, the second overall pick of the draft, would... St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger has fractured the pinkie finger of his throwing hand and could be out for at least two weeks. Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Bulger will not play in Friday's preseason game against Atlanta and is doubtful for the Aug. 27 game at Cincinnati. Bulger, 32, jammed the finger taking a snap during Monday's practice and an X-ray revealed a small fracture. Spagnuolo said Bulger's finger has been taped but is not in a splint. The finger has to be immobilized for... Read Full Story
The St. Louis Rams will be without No. 1 wide receiver Donnie Avery for four to six weeks after the second-year player injured his foot during a scrimmage last week. Avery was hurt Friday and has a stress fracture in his left foot, the team said. The injury could mean he'll miss the first two regular-season games. "We'll take it day by day, but it's going to be a lot of time," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said. After Torry Holt left as a free agent after last season, Avery became the Rams' top... Read Full Story
