Smith replaces defensive end Quentin Groves, a former second-round pick who has struggled to find a role with the Jaguars (4-4).

The Jacksonville Jaguars deactivated cornerback Rashean Mathis against Tennessee as expected Sunday with his broken left finger. The Titans are sitting cornerback Nick Harper as he recovers from a broken right arm. Tennessee also deactivated defensive end Jevon Kearse for a third straight game, and this time Kearse is a healthy scratch after practicing the past couple weeks.
