Applause to the West! There were two major upset victories today. San Diego rocked UConn smack out of the tournament. That's a 13 seed defeating a 4 seed. Nice work SD! West Kentucky put the hurt on Drake in the final few seconds of the game. A near miracle play won it...with only 5 seconds to play, they inbounded the ball, ran full court, and popped in a beautiful outside shot for the huge upset victory. Day 1 was disappointing to those of us who enjoy major upsets. Duke gave us a nail biting ending, but ultimately won, which sorta stunk. It would have been a lot more fun to see a #15 rank beat out a #2 on day one. At least Texas A&M pulled off an upset against BYU, but really that wasn't a big surprise. Davidson was the school to watch in this year's March Madness. They handled opponents with ease, seemed confident in their status as the favored underdog, and had a hero in Stephen Curry.
