Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal Quest for Justice in New 'Prisoners' Trailer

It's not a stretch to assume a person would do just about anything to get his daughter back if she goes missing, especially if the legal system keeps screwing him at every turn. In Prisoners, Hugh Jackman plays a father faced with that exact scenario when the detective (Jake Gyllenhaal) handling the case can't locate his missing daughter and has to release the only suspect (Paul Dano) due to a lack of hard evidence.

Solution: Poppa bear takes matters into his own hands and does some kidnapping of his own, holding Dano's character hostage, convinced he's the bad guy. But if we've learned anything from Ransom or Mystic River, it's that nothing is ever as it originally seems in these Hollywood abduction tales.

The trailer does a good job of building tension and has a Fincher-esque darkness to it, which separates Prisoners from its contemporaries, but the real draw here is the A-list cast. Next to Gyllenhaal and Jackman, we get Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Maria Bellow, and Melissa Leo. That means every lead, with the exception of Dano (who's no slouch himself), has at least one Oscar nomination to their name. Set your expectations appropriately high.
