Mariano Rivera is a professional baseball player. He's a right-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees and wears number 42. He is managed by pitching manager Ron Guidry.
OK, to be fair, everything Scioscia has said since the series has been nothing but class, and I'm not taking any of that away from him. But did anyone catch the recent comments by recently defeated Angels manager Mike Scioscia? He was talking to 300 people at a fundraiser lunch for KidWorks , and was asked by someone in the crowd if the Yankees could buy another championship next year. First, Scioscia said the Yankees' payroll had nothing to do with their ALCS defeat of the Angels and... Read Full Story

He’s A Christian!
But he wasn’t always a Christian, people never are…not from birth anyway. Furhtermore, there is a moment in every Christian’s life where they have made a choice to follow the path God has planned for them. For some, it’s as clear as day, but for others, it’s a gradual move towards that plan which blurs that... Read Full Story
New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera has soreness in his left groin, an injury that could sideline the pitcher through the weekend. Rivera said he first began to feel sore on Aug. 15 in Seattle. He has pitched in five games since then, including Monday and Tuesday, when he recorded his 37th and 38th saves against Baltimore. But Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Rivera was not going to pitch in the finale Wednesday regardless of the score, adding that it was likely the right-hander would be... Read Full Story
Mariano Rivera is a big reason the American League is on such a roll in All-Star games. It helps when the ninth inning is never a problem. Baseball's most dominant closer set a record with his fourth All-Star save Tuesday night, getting three quick outs to preserve a 4-3 victory over the NL at Busch Stadium. "Beautiful game," Rivera said. "All these guys are stars. So you better bring your `A' game." With its seventh straight win, the AL improved to 12-0-1 since 1996 — the longest unbeaten... By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Mariano Rivera, the star closing pitcher for the New York Yankees has nine saves to his credit so far this season. That's the good news. The bad news is that Trevor Hoffman, who left the San Diego Padres for the Milwaukee Brewers this season, now has eleven saves. So, Mariano is simply keeping pace with Hoffman and has not been able to close the gap between them. Hoffman is the all-time leader for saves with 565, and Mariano currently has 491, so the... By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - The New York Yankees' star closer, Panamanian Mariano Rivera, tallied his first official save of the 2009 Major League Baseball season in his appearance against the Kansas City Royals yesterday. Apparently fully recovered from off-season right shoulder surgery, Rivera had a typical outing (for him), giving up one hit and striking out three to retire the side in the 9th to secure the win for the Yankees. Now with 483 career saves, Rivera is alone in second... Read Full Story
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - The New York Yankees star closer, Panamanian Mariano Rivera, already has four saves in the early part of the 2009 Major League Baseball season, bringing his career total to 486. The all-time saves leader, Milwaukee Brewers' pitcher Trevor Hoffman who currently has 554 lifetime, has been on the Disabled List since 27 March 2009, and so far has not added to his total. Therefore, right now Mariano Rivera needs 68 saves to catch Hoffman, who is very likely... Read Full Story
Mariano Rivera is one of the most respected players in all of baseball and a no-doubt first ballot hall of famer who has mastered MLB over 15-plus seasons with nearly one pitch, a cutter.
The supposed evidence in the final frame is actually the Majestic logo on Scioscia's jacket in the next frame.
Well, there is an Angels fan blog out there, Halos Heaven, that is trying to convince us that his one pitch is actually a spitter.
Here is what they had to say :
Personally, the video you... Read Full Story
Since the Yankees and Angels clinched and confirmed their date in the 2009 ALCS all I’ve heard about what a great team the Angels are. People are entitled to their opinions so I can’t bash anyone for that, but it did get me thinking about the Yankee teams that previously faced the Angels. In 2002 and 2005 the Yankees faced the Angels in the ALDS and both times were unfortunately bounced in dramatic fashion. In 2002 the team still had a dominating starting rotation and a reliable bullpen... Read Full Story
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - As you might have figured out by now, about the only thing I'm tracking in Major League Baseball is Mariano Rivera, the star closing pitcher for the New York Yankees, and his race to close in on the all-time record holder for saves, Trevor Hoffman. Right now Mariano has five saves this season and Hoffman has two, meaning Mariano is 69 saves back. Rivera picked up save #5 past night in the Yankee's 7-4 win vs. the Angles.
