Mariano Rivera Keeping Pace With Trevor Hoffman
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Mariano Rivera, the star closing pitcher for the New York Yankees has nine saves to his credit so far this season. That's the good news. The bad news is that Trevor Hoffman, who left the San Diego Padres for the Milwaukee Brewers this season, now has eleven saves. So, Mariano is simply keeping pace with Hoffman and has not been able to close the gap between them. Hoffman is the all-time leader for saves with 565, and Mariano currently has 491, so the distance between them remains at 74. Not to worry, Hoffman is a "geezer" compared to Rivera (well, not really, he's just two years older.) Anyway, Hoffman has to run out of gas sometime, and then Rivera will catch up then. It's only a matter of time...
