She won the Best Actress Award at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in The Conjugal Bed. She was married to Russian poet and song-writer Vladimir Vysotsky from 1970 until his death in 1980. She was also at one time the wife of actor/director Robert Hossein.
