Herzlich has Ewing's Sarcoma, a cancer that affects bone and soft tissue. From a story at ESPN: "Obviously, I was shocked. Linebacker Mark Herzlich of Boston College, Atlantic Coast Conference defensive player of the year, announced this week that he has cancer. Herzlich said he has Ewing's Sarcoma which is usually found in young men who range in age from 14-22. The particular type of the disease is found in the long bones of the leg and in the pelvis. Ewing's Sarcoma is an aggressive, fast-moving cancer which has been shown to respond to chemo, radiation and, in some cases, surgery. He disclosed that he has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a malignant tumor most often found in bone or soft tissue. The University of Virginia has joined into the effort to help Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich battle Ewing’s Sarcoma. The Wahoos will join the growing list of ACC schools, individual and other organizations which have/will join forces with Uplifting Athletes in support of research for the rare form of cancer.
