How To Making Money With Adsense

If you have spent some time looking into making a living online, then there is little doubt you will have been constantly exposed to sales pages promising instant wealth beyond your wildest dreams, schemes to make major dollars online with little or no investment. It seems that amongst the forefront of these online programs is a very powerful feature provided to us by Google: Adsense.
Google Adsense is simply a utility that allows you to place a small piece of code on your website and receive targeted ads from the Google Adwords network. Every time someone comes to your website and clicks on an ad, you earn some money. If you own a very popular website with thousands of visitors per day, the potential exists to make huge sums of money. Even for a relatively small site the potential exists and is being exploited.
Converting the potential income to actual income depends on a number of factors, and one of these is which type of adsense ad you allow on your website. There are three ad types you can choose from. The first, and easily the most popular is the Adsense for Content ad Block. With these you can decide whether you want a text block or an image block on your website. Using Adsense, you are able to host up to three full ads(ad blocks), and one text link ad(also known as text units). On most sites this will be too much for a single page and discourage the surfer. Only experimenting with the type and placement of ads will educate you as to the most profitable arrangement.
Google also offers and option called Adsense for Search. This is a useful service which allows users to access a google search from directly on their webpage. The surfer enters a term into the search box, clicks search and is taken to a Google search results page. The page of course has google ads on it, which if clicked result in revenue for the webmaster.
The final option is Google Referrals. These involve referring your site users to Google products and earning commission for each referral. The commission structures and amounts are different for different products, but referring a new user to Google Adsense for example could mean you sharing the earnings they make in the Adsense program. You might just get lucky here and get a landslide income from someone who cracks the code and develops a highly profitable website.
The key here is getting people to actually follow the ad links so you get paid. One of the best ways of doing this is to blend the ad into your site. This means having the ad background the same as the background on your site, and keeping the text consistent with the page as well. People are more likely to click an ad if it seems like part of the site than if it sticks out as an ad hoc addition. If you have enough traffic coming to your site some clicks are almost guaranteed, but for lower traffic sites generating the traffic is the biggest issue.
High quality, high content sites are more likely to generate visitors. Other tricks, like including a link in your emails and forum posts will also generate traffic for you. Adsense is really a numbers game, the more people who are coming to your site, the more likely you are to get clicks and earn some big dollars online.
