Marsha, Marsha, Marsha - I love your sense of humor: Press Release Contact: Claude Chafin 202-225-1112 Washington, Nov 17 - Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) today hailed the Obama Administration’s efforts to create jobs and expand the number of Congressional districts in Tennessee. While the stimulus has only “created or saved” 9,548 jobs in Tennessee, Blackburn was gratified to see that it also increased the size of the delegation by 38 seats. Between 1982 and today, Tennessee only had nine Congressional districts. According to Recovery.gov, Tennessee’s 29th Congressional District gained 20 jobs and more than nine million dollars in stimulus funding. Blackburn’s 7th District only ... Read Full Story

April 24, 2009 When Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn confronted Al Gore with his profiteering from global warming legislation at today’s House Energy and Environment Subcommittee hearing on the Waxman-Markey climate bill, Al Gore said that every penny he ever made from his business activities went into non-profit efforts. [See transcript below.] That is a flat-out lie, according to this March 6, 2008 Bloomberg report that indicates that Al Gore invested $35 million of his own money in various for-profit endeavors. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore left the White House seven years ago with less than $2 million in assets, including a Virginia home ... Read Full Story

July 14th, 2009 Rep. Marsha Blackburn has seen the future of health care in America that the left wants to implement. Blackburn’s home state of Tennessee implemented TennCare, a Medicaid style program in 1994. The results were predictable. Employers moved employees onto TennCare because the subsidized public plan appeared to cost less. “As a result of this insurance rates for those who have private coverage were going through the roof,” said Blackburn who spoke at Heritage’s weekly Blogger Briefing today. Costs rose everywhere, however, not just within the dwindling private sector. “This program started to consume every new dollar that was generated in the ... Read Full Story

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, one of the most prominent flamethrowers in the House of Representatives, simply could not commit herself on Thursday to no longer call President Obama a socialist or a tyrant. Appearing at the Bloomberg Washington Summit, the Tennessee Republican was asked whether she disapproved of some of the more vitriolic rhetoric heard at conservative town-hall or tea-party protests.
