Dear Marta:
They say youth is a fleeting and transitory element of time. In some respects it is, but there are portions which seem to continue in one way or another as one lives his life.
As a youth, many moons ago, or many asteroids ago, let’s say about twenty eight years, I enjoyed science fiction stories, and Lost in Space was definitely in the upper echelon of my fictional but real list. The stories about alien life and their unpredictable ways, time, space, and human mysteries and virtues really interested me and was quite an exciting diversion from my fondness for math and science at school, which had a much more predictability and exactness about them. I know there were John and Don, and Maureen, the scientists, and Penny and Will, the intellects, and Dr. Smith, the man of mystery, but there was another. Judy Robinson, you were a pleasant and interesting entertainment with your knowledge of science with literature, emotional intellect with warmness of spirit, and ability to entice without saying a word and excite a poet to compose without using a rhyme. All I know is, as someone in his mid forties, I hope I am able to converse and attract someone such as yourself when I have the emotional passion maturity of a nineteen year old. I often indulge in imagery, silent adoration, and sweet poetry when I become fascinated by a young lady as I entered my teen years However, you, a young and delightful lady who can relate to orbital patterns around a planet while having a sweet appealing charm of kindness and aspirations gives the act of gazing at the stars a deeper meaning more than an astronomer could ever envision by a telescope. As I boy I was enveloped by chemistry, astronomy, and mathematical properties of algebra, geometry, and probability, subjects that are often on very low priority list wherever I work, but your tribute of gentle but moving words of interpretation and emotion presents these subjects in a similar yet pleasingly different light. The precision and certainty of science and math are made more wonderful and exciting to be captivated by, and competent with, when you talk of them in wholesome merit of recreation and placid but forever yearning inclination for happiness. I enjoyed the show’s never ending themes of love, compassion, loyalty, trust, honor, and family, but as science fiction presents these among many different facts and figures, your attractive appeal of fond sentiment and scientific but sweet to the ear words of mysteriously entrancing satisfaction and esteem always resonate throughout the galaxy of physical laws, mathematical equations, and chemical properties. You may know more about gravitational attraction than me or my peers, but you are more lovely when you let me explain it to you and you thoughtfully allow me to figure out what it really means. If you know of such beautiful and divine answers among scientific and mathematical inquiries as they relate to a more magnificent and radiant side of life, I would be honored and would enjoy to devote my life to search for these eloquent postulates of probity and benevolent candor just for you.
