Steven Spielberg announced this week that he will produce a big screen biopic of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Apparently, there is "beef" within the King Estate as to whether or not Steven Spielberg actually has the rights to produce the film. It looks like Dexter, the lone supporter has agreed to go forth with production, and the other two siblings have not.
Also a Harvard Alum, Bud too has passion, guts and resembles MLK. Add 15lbs to Bud in the face, and you've got your MLK.
Choice # 3 - Jamie Foxx
Okay, I know what you are thinking - Hell to the no. But, I have faith in Jamie. He could do this...(crickets)
When casting a movie about Martin Luther King Jr., you can't overlook who will play Coretta Scott King. It's a challenge for a casting director, choosing an actress who can hold her own against a powerful man while not stealing the scene. Can you think of any leading ladies who could do it? Of course we can.

Choice #1 - Angela Bassett
This leading lady has been around for a while and has yet to get the praise and recognition that she deserves. She played Malcolm X's wife and could easily fulfill the role of Coretta.
Choice #2 - Denise
This relatively newcomer to Hollywood could so play Coretta. While she lacks any formal acting training, once the costume comes on, she comes alive. With a little time in the tanning bed and a few hair extensions, Denise could turn into Coretta with ease. Seriously, doesn't the above picture remind you of the Kings? Okay, maybe not...
Choice #3 - Jurnee Smollett to play young Coretta

Jurnee has a old Hollywood feel about her that I just love. She is very classic in the roles that she chooses, and is very mature and grounded. This would be a stretch, but she could definitely play the First Lady of Civil Rights.
Who would you Cast?
