Martin Luther King Day
Bishop John C. Wester of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah, spoke at a recent luncheon held to honor Martin Luther King. It was inspirational and I felt honored to be able to attend. I wish that more people could have heard this speech. A small part of Bishop Wester’s speech is included in the video below.
For those that have trouble hearing this speech, I have included part of it below:
He did much to leave our country a better place, where peace... Read Full Story

You could have a young activist, president, or leader in your home, a kid with a... Read Full Story
[AP Photo] I have printed the prayers of Bishop Robinson and Rick Warren. The best of the bunch, by far, was the benediction, given by the Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery, the man who walked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and who led the march on Selma so many years ago. If we must nod to god at government function, Lowery does it better. And the last paragraph is the best, even if the moron, Glenn Beck, thinks it racist and attacks the poor abused white folks. God of our weary years, God of our... Read Full Story
Martin Luther King, Jr., had a dream. What is your dream? Are you living his dream? Or your dream? Or are you engulfed in a nightmare? As you read the words in his speech, ask yourself what you are doing to embrace Martin's legacy? What contributions are you making to your family, your friends, your community, your country? What are you doing with the freedom that your civil rights leaders fought so hard to attain? Or maybe you're not yet free???? I'm sure that we all have differing opinions... Read Full Story
