So we’ve got a couple of surprise Kick-Ass! treats this week. Lionsgate just hooked MySpace up with a new poster that reveals Aaron Johnson, the title character, all battered and bruised from…well…kicking a lot of ass. Last week it was reported that the Comic-Con presentation of Mark Millar ’s creator-owned title “ Kick-Ass ” had generated a ton of interest, and that several studios are all in the running to bid on the picture.

Lionsgate’s Twitter page updated with the release date of Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass! , it looks like the studio will be releasing it on April 16, 2010.

Lionsgate has grabbed domestic distribution rights to Matthew Vaughn’s action-comedy Kick-Ass! after a 3 studio battle insued after massive buzz was generated from Comic-Con on the project and fan response.
The deal is being described as big with the mini-major studio committing to a wide 2010 release.
