They made big plays in the red zone and held the Texans offense to 4 FG’s and also forced 3 Int. Gerald Alexander intercepted a halfback pass attempt by Chris Brown as the Texans were driving and made the play on the 2 yard line. The Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5) dropped another game on the West Coast by losing 20-3 to the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park on Sunday. The 49ers (5-6) snapped the Jaguars’ three-game winning streak with solid play from quarterback Alex Smith , the No. 1 overall pick in 2005. Mistakes were the story of the day for Jacksonville. Maurice Jones-Drew was held out of today’s practice to rest his ailing knee, according to Michael C. Wright’s (Florida Times-Union) twitter page. Jones-Drew is averaging 19 rushing attempts per game in his first year as a full-time starter with Jacksonville, and it is a good idea to get him some rest during the practice week. Sometimes smart plays work, sometimes they don’t. For the Jaguars on Sunday in New Jersey vs the Jets, Maurice Jones-Drew made maybe the smartest play of the season, setting up a chip shot field goal for Josh Scobee as the Jags beat the Jets 24-22. Jones-Drew deliberately fell down so the Jaguars could run time off the clock before the Scobee kicked the game-winner on the final play of the game.
