Mavericks Rogue Wave Injures 13 [Video]

A Mavericks rogue wave injured scads of people on Saturday at the 2010 big-wave surf competition held in Northern California. According to the Santa Cruz Sentinal , the wave caused three people to go to the hospital, and as many as three dozen people were were either drenched or somehow effected by the 8-foot swell. The Mavericks Surf Contest 2010 went down today in Northern California. The big wave surfing competition has been held annually, when conditions permit, since 1999 and features some giant waves that can soar up to about 50 feet. The contest started at 8am this morning, and according to MSNBC , a rogue wave caused injuries like broken bones to people standing on a seawall during the event. The Mavericks Surf Contest 2010 was held today in Northern California, and a rogue wave gave a few spectators more than they bargained for at the elite surfing event. According to MSNBC , the wave caused injuries like broken bones to people standing on a seawall during the event.
