Former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker has announced his support of Republican nomination candidate Mitt Romney.
In addition, Baker will serve as a senior adviser on urban policy for the national campaign, according to a written statement from the Romney campaign.
Baker was elected as mayor in 2001 and re-elected in 2005. Most recently he released a book, “A Seamless City,” in 2011.
St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster reported to city council there is no urgency to the Tampa Bay Rays’ stadium site search, but that the team is going to look around, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Foster had a meeting with Rays' Owner Stuart Sternberg earlier this week, but had not spoken publicly about what was discussed until he talked to council.
