A community portal about Mazda RX-7 with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Mazda RX-7 was a sports car that began production in 1978. The original RX-7 competed in the affordable sports car segment with the likes of the Nissan Fairlady Z. The styling was inspired by the Lotus Elan 2+2. It featured a unique twin-rotor Wankel rotary engine and a sporty front-midship, rear wheel drive layout, making it well balanced and appropriate for racing. The RX-7 was a direct replacement for the RX-3 and subsequently replaced all other Mazda rotary cars with the exception of the Cosmo.

The Mazda RX-7 and the Corvette Stingray (preferably modeled after the '69 or '70).
RX-7: Mazda has a nice thing goin' with the rotary engine, why not expand to two lineups with them? Both the RX-7 and -8 would have similar, but distinctly different styling and could probably just be built off the same frame.
Stingray: I've heard rumor about what I'm hoping for, the '69 or '70. I'd probably try to gouge out my eyes every time I saw one of...
Ever since Mazda introduced its ambitious Sky G gasoline and Sky D diesel engines at the 2009 Tokyo auto show, things have been looking, uh, up. But when we sat down with Robert Davis, Mazda USA senior VP of product development here on the other side of the Pacific, we were told that Mazda is also hard at work on the engine that enthusiasts know best, the famous rotary. According to Davis, this sequel, known as 16X, will be a more revolutionary step than the revvy but rather torque-deficient Renesis engine that was developed for the RX-8. He wouldn’t give any estimation as to ...

Mazda used the RX-7 to replace the RX-3 and it eventually was the replacement for all of their rotary engines other than the Cosmo. The Wankel engine in the first RX-7 was only 1150 cc. It was a twin rotor engine and the car was rear wheel drive. The Wankel engine was invented in Germany, however Mazda was one of the few auto manufacturers to successfully use the rotary engine. The increased fuel ...

Posted on 11.24.2009 11:30 by Terence Keon Filed under: Mazda | coupe | Mazda RX7 | sports cars | Cars | Car News This is definitely not the first time that we have heard about a rebirth of the greatest Rotary Experimental model that the Japanese automaker Mazda has ever produced and we hope that it won’t be the last. It turns out that the Zoom-Zoom brand has been preparing a successor for their current rotary powered RX-8 sports car, and while some might say that the next evolution should wear an RX-9 badge, we are happy to hear that Mazda is considering to ...

Even though I occasionally make fun of rotary engines—My favorite punchline: communism worked in theory too—I’ve always loved the looks of this generation RX-7. Doesn’t it give off kind of a Batmobile vibe? Anyway, Khalid has done a fantastic job with his, head over to his page and check out the before and after pics.
