an obvious felony without conviction
Jurors could not reach a verdict on a conspiracy count

Very shameful.
Los Angeles, CA — A jury has convicted a Missouri mother of lesser, misdemeanor crimes in the MySpace cyber-bullying case linked to a 13-year-old girl’s suicide.
The Los Angeles federal court jury on Wednesday rejected felony charges of accessing a computer without authorization to inflict emotional distress on young MEGAN MEIER.
However, the... Read Full Story

Although she wanted felony convictions, the mother of a girl who killed herself in a MySpace hoax says she hopes the case will serve as a deterrent to cyber-bullies.
"This has been a victory," Tina Meier, the 38-year-old mother of Megan Meier, told reporters Wednesday after a jury found her former neighbor, Lori Drew, guilty of three misdemeanors for posing as a 16-year-boy flirting online with Megan.
Meier, whose 13-year-old daughter hung herself after the fictional boy... Read Full Story
In light of the many folks who bought in to the Megan Had It Coming blog and spewed their personal hate issues on the blog, there was a whole lot of issues on it that just didn't settle well with me. Then again, I'm not a vigilante. There was more to it than what appeared in text. I simply couldn't articulate it therefore, I listened to my inner wisdom and held my peace. I really don't want to link to it but for the sake of my readers convenience, this post isn't about me, it's about... Read Full Story
This morning I was thumbing through Saturday's New York Post where I saw a ridiculous op-ed column by Jacob Sullum entitled "Case Makes Computer Use A Crime." This is all about 13-year old Megan Meier , the girl who killed herself after her heart was broken on MySpace by 49-year old Lori Drew, who was masquerading as a teenaged boy with a crush on Megan. . A grown woman steering a child toward suicide? Drew should hang. Sullum needs a brain scan. Drew is just as guilty as those guys who get... Read Full Story
Two years after Megan Meier committed suicide Lori Drew, age 49, was indicted for her alleged role in Meier’s death.
In an earlier blog I wrote:
In 2006 a Missouri teenager hanged herself after being rejected by a 16 year old boy she met on MySpace. Well, at least that’s what she thought. The reality was the “16 year old boy” was really the mother of one of the girls former friends.
The motive? It seems the mother was allegedly trying to exact revenge on Meier, who had allegedly... Read Full Story
There will be no criminal charges against the mother who made up a MySpace page and pranked her daughter's classmate just before the killed herself. Regardless, the sick lady needs some help!!
ST. LOUIS (AP) — People who sent cruel Internet messages to a 13-year-old girl before she committed suicide won't face criminal charges, a suburban St. Louis prosecutor announced Monday. St. Charles County prosecutor Jack Banas said that while he understands the public outrage over Megan Meier's... Read Full Story
A federal jury decided to hand down lesser charges to a woman accused of harassing 13-year-old Megan Meier over MySpace until she killed herself.
Lori Drew, apparently a busy body mom who has no life, got off fairly easy by only getting convicted of a few misdeamor charges. The prosecution was going for the maximum sentence of 20 years in jail, but Drew will only serve up to 3 years. She does, however, face up to $300,000 in penalties.
Lori, a grown 49-year-old woman with children... Read Full Story
The prosecutor in Missouri said yesterday that there will be no criminal charges filed in the case of Megan Meier, the teen who killed herself last year after being cyber bullied by a boy called "Josh". Megan's parents found out after her death that "Josh" was not a teen boy... but was actually THE MOTHER of one of Megan's friends. A neighbor, Lori Drew, who is a suburban mother-from-hell.
My husband pointed out this case to me and I am shocked at the insanity. Here's a summary... Read Full Story
