Everyone's Talking About Meghan Markle's Old Comedy Central Movie
'The Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down,' which features Markle as a twenty-something party girl, has been acquired by a new company and may soon be back on TV.
Are you ready for The Duchess's Guide to Getting Down?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, one of Meghan Markle's last pre-royal film projects was recently acquired by Artist Rights Distribution and will be re-released some time this year. The Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down features Markle as Dana, a twenty-something party girl navigating life in the Los Angeles club scene. According to IMDb, it aired on Comedy Central in 2011 and hasn't seen the light of day since. Markle married Prince Harry in 2018 and put her acting career to rest, so this news is especially exciting.
Here's the comedy's synopsis:
"This films takes you through a night of partying in L.A. Funny & somewhat outrageous, gives partiers helpful tips about which substances should not be mixed,, how to approach potential hook-ups, avoid undesirables & basically have a good time without completely destroying yourself."
Despite her retirement, it's possible Markle's Suits character, Rachel Zane, will appear in the ninth and final season of the USA series.
In January, series creator Aaron Korsh told Deadline a Duchess cameo was still possible as the show's writers iron out Season 9 details.
"As of this minute I don’t know which of our old original cast will be back and which won’t because we’re so early in the season," he said. "I can tell you that those things in the papers, I have no idea what they’re talking about."
In early 2019, rumors spread Markle would reprise her role one last time if USA made a large donation to her chosen charity.
"I have not arranged for millions of dollars to be donated to anything on behalf of anyone so that I can tell you," Korsh said. "But as far as the original people coming back including Jessica, we’re so early in the season that we haven’t formulated what we want to do, so we can’t reach out to people before we know what we want to do."
But old TV movies and Rachel Zane's return are probably the last things on Markle's mind.
Prince Harry and the Duchess are expecting their first child some time in the spring and, as George Clooney emphasized during a recent press event, Markle has received an overwhelming amount of problematic attention since her wedding.
Hang in there, Meghan!
