Report: Mel Gibson Goes Nuts During Sunday Mass

Six years ago, Mel Gibson founded The Church of the Holy Family in Malibu, California, a private, "pre Vatican II" church that delivers all masses in Latin, as was the standard before Catholic reforms in the early 1960s.

Gibson presented himself, for years, as the ultimate Catholic traditionalist. Now he's getting divorced from his wife of 29 years, Robyn Moore, and has confirmed that he has a baby on the way with his Russian girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.

As is to be expected, Mel's fellow parishoniers are reportedly shocked and dismayed that the proclaimed family man is divorce-bound - especially as his chances of an Church-supported annulment are slim to none.

According to Radar, Gibson lost it during a service at Holy Family on Sunday, responding to the judgment he perceived from other church-goers. Radar reports:

In front of two priests and a visiting bishop, Gibson made a huge scene when he "paced back and forth, furiously telling the congregation that he would not stand by and be judged and scrutinized," a source told RadarOnline.com.

“Mel got up on his stage -- the altar -- and went off. He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes. Mel even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him. The bottom line is that if Mel hadn’t cheated on his wife and gotten his Russian girlfriend pregnant, there wouldn’t be much to gossip about – he created this mess, and now he’s trying to control it."
