Melanie Oudin , a 17-year-old Georgia tennis player, beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia, 6-1, 6-2, in the first round of the US Open today. She's the highest ranked American woman who is not a Williams. Oudin at the US Open (Reuters) According to the NY Times , "Oudin, ranked 70th, cruised through the first three games in short order. But the fourth game, which saw deuce after deuce, lasted almost as long as the previous three." Oudin was formerly the number two world junior. The father of American tennis sensation Melanie Oudin is seeking a divorce from her mother, alleging Leslie Oudin had an affair with the teenager's coach, according to a report by SI.com. The Web site reported Wednesday night that Oudin's father, John, filed for divorce in July 2008 on grounds of adultery. According to the report, John Oudin said in a sworn statement last month that his wife had an affair with the 17-year-old's coach, Brian de Villiers.
