Former Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Merle Harmon passed away at the age of 82. Former Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Merle Harmon passed away at the age of 82 today.

He was the Brewers play-by-play man from 1970 to 1979.

Former Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Merle Harmon passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.

Harmon, whose career in sports broadcasting lasted 45 years, was the Brewers play-by-play voice from 1970-79. Harmon also was a broadcaster for the Braves and NBC Sports.

"Merle was a great friend and a wonderful partner in the booth, and the memories he leaves us with will be cherished forever. His dedication to family and broadcasting were second to none, and I will always be grateful for the latitude and direction he gave to me as I was entering the profession. My heart goes out to his family, and I speak for everyone at the Brewers in saying that this is a very sad day for all of us," former broadcasting partner Bob Uecker.
