A look at the Cubs spring numbers

By rexjaybels on  From i94sports.com
Yesterday we looked at the Brewers spring thus far, today we will focus on the Cubs. Just twelve days remain until Opening Day and the questions that faced the team a couple of months ago are getting their answers. The Cubs have not failed to hit, as the team is expected to do a lot of in 2009. They have scored 180 runs in 27 games, and average of 6.7 per game, and they are getting contributions from a lot of different players, new and old. At 29-years old, Micah Hoffpauir is looking to...Read Full Story

Bradley Down; Door Opens for Hoffpauir

By ClarkAddison on  From blog.cubhub.net
Bruce Levine is reporting that Milton Bradley actually tweaked his groin in batting practice prior to yesterday’s game in Milwaukee and then went on to aggravate it later on in the fourth inning. Bradley’s injury, a first degree strain of his right groin, is considered mild so he is not likely headed to the DL. The injury may provide an opportunity for Micah Hoffpauir to get some playing time in right field. The rookie has impressed everyone with his bat but finding playing time for him has...Read Full Story

Micah Hoffpauir has been pretty much "guaranteed" a spot on the Major League team after Spring Training barring any injury to himself or a severe slump this spring. After absolutely tearing the cover off the ball in Triple-A Iowa last year; he has nothing else to prove on that level and will be used as a back up to Derrek Lee at first and in the corner spots of the OF. Lou Piniella plans on resting his regulars more often this year and that could spell a decent sized role on the team for...Read Full Story

Micah Hoffpauir-IF/OF

By natedogg28 on  From youngcubsworld.com
Micah Hoffpauir has been in the organization longer than anyone else on this list. He was drafted in the 13 th round in the 2002 Draft and to put that in perspective for you; Don Baylor was the manager of the Cubs at that time. The soon to be 29 year old finally developed the power that everyone had been waiting for last year. In just 71 games at Triple-A Iowa, Hoffpauir hit 25 HRs with 100 RBIs, while hitting a robust .362. His slugging percentage was an astronomical .752 and he handled left...Read Full Story

Micah Hoffpauir-IF/OF

By natedogg28 on  From youngcubsworld.com
Micah Hoffpauir got the start in RF on Monday against the Royals and then shifted to 1st later in the game. He went 2 for 4 with his 2 nd spring double and a run scored. His spring AVG is now at .324 through 11 games. Hoff has appeared in all but one of the Spring Training games and he leads the team in hits with 12. His OPS is up to .891 and he is really having some pretty strong at bats. He has struck out 7 times and walked only twice, but it is ok to be a little aggressive in Spring...Read Full Story
