The NY Times review of Michael Moores Sicko :     Having spent part of my childhood in England (where my sister the Hollywood Agent was born) I have to love this 'French quote' from the review: “What’s your biggest expense after the house and the car?” he asks an upper-middle-class French couple. “Ze feesh,” replies the wife. “Also vegetables.” Read Full Story

Yeah it's late, but some quick thoughts on why I like Michael Moore: 1.) The Power of Persuasion: I read a book review today of Saving Persuasion: A Defense of Rhetoric and Judgement written by my former UCLA professor Andrew Sabl (the review, not the book... the book is by Yale's Bryan Garsten). On the subject of rhetoric, he writes: "While the trend in democratic theory is to sideline rhetoric in favor of rationalistic 'deliberation,' Garsten explores and defends an older tradition of republican rhetoric that disavows manipulation and pandering but differs with contemporary rationalism in practicing respect for citizens' actual opinions and for ... There couldn’t be a better word to describe Michael Moore’s latest film “Sicko”. Traveling through the health care world in the United States brings on a new era of realization of how “Sickening” the health insurance industry of America really is. Almost 50 Million Americans live without health insurance in America. As bad as that is, some insurance companies make it extremely difficult to get any insurance claims at all for the rest of the 250 million Americans that do have health insurance coverage. Sicko, documents a case where a man had accidentally sawed off two of his fingers, the index finger and the ... Read Full Story

I had only just been putting the finishing touches on a piece for Pajamas Media that I had entitled “Wakey, Wakey! Remember the Liquid Bomb Plotters?” when I saw my esteemed colleague Phyllis Chesler’s excellent piece about Hizb ut-Tahrir. In turn, I had also been inspired to write my piece by the supreme idiocy of Michael Moore on a recent Hannity, when the filmmaker made the staggeringly naive observation that there are a mere “few hundred...

By Jim MilesThe thrift in me allowed me to wait until Michael Moore's "Capitalism - A Love Story" came out on second run theatres - it was well worth the wait. The powerful effect that Moore has on his audience derives from the personal stories he relates combined with a sense of humour that highlights the bizarre nature of our capitalist society. The stories of the evictions, the factory shutdowns, the "Dead Peasants", and the visuals of...

The primary trailer to Michael Moore's latest hideously unwatchable “documentary” Capitalism: A Love Story features a narration of a series of events surrounding the financial crisis beginning in late 2008 and the federal government's particular method for addressing it with Moore ultimately proclaiming that “By spending just a few million dollars to buy Congress Wall Street was given billions.” No arguing with that proposition. After just 22...

Notice that Larry makes the same mistake that most non-Libertarians (including myself when I was a far-Left Liberal) make: He thinks of the government as some monolithic entity rather than it being made up of human beings.  It seems that even socialists are getting sick of Michael Moore. Moore recently went on Jimmy Kimmel Live and made a joke about getting drunk with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and helping him write his speeches to the United Nations. Well the Chavistas were having none of that. Take this paragraph from Eva Golinger, one of Chavez's most prominent defenders: Moore is exceptionally full of himself towards the end of the interview with...
