Vick speaks out against "pointless" dogfighting
Coming off his first National Football League appearance since being sent to jail for his role in a dogfight ring, Michael Vick spoke out Tuesday against dogfighting at a Washington church.
Two days after making a brief return for the Philadelphia Eagles as a reserve, the one-time superstar quarterback appeared at Covenant Baptist Church in an appearance sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States.
Vick called dogfighting "pointless" and said he did not know why he began funding and providing housing areas for the group, adding that he regretted the decisions that led to his conviction and 18-month prison sentence.
Saying he wanted to be an agent for change, Vick signed with the Eagles after being dropped by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this year. He has been working with the animal group since his release from prison.
