Having been heavily involved with testing Microsoft Dynamics custom products, I found Microsoft Virtual PC to be a must have tool. Not only because it saves a lot of money for not having to acquire different PCs in order to test products in different environments, but it also saves a lot of time. It just takes several simple rules to follow and knowing the functionalities that Microsoft Virtual PC has to offer. What I will share are tips and tricks I gathered over the years, best practices... Are you ready to downgrade . . . um, I meant upgrade?
We all know (and have heard) Vista seems to be a big flop. Lots of articles by many capable industry experts have expressed the many reasons. I have a much simpler and less-technical approach.
For the general public, three areas mark the main thrust and justification for upgrading to Vista: security, productivity, and graphics.
Security - Think back 5 - 7 years. Remember how the world came to a grinding halt every few month by a... Read Full Story
Last month we told you about an emergency security patch Microsoft was releasing to combat a hack that exploits low security networks, USB Flash drives, and PCs without the patch. Today, we learn that over 3.5 million PCs have been infected. If you are a Windows user, and you don’t have it already, you should consider downloading the patch.

Where do you want to go today?
A technical glitch prevented users from accessing their Hotmail accounts last Tuesday. According to a Microsoft spokeswoman, “the issue is purely impacting the login process for customers and largely does not impact customers who were already logged in”.
Oh! Well in that case, thank God ! That makes it so much better and more acceptable, doesn’t it? Those sorry-ass slobs who were not logged in didn’t really deserve to get logged in.
Let’s face it. We’re... Read Full Story
Microsoft has confirmed that it has stolen (um . . . hired) Disney’s current CIO, Tony Scott. He replaces Microsoft’s old CIO, Stuart Scott, who was canned for ‘violating internal company policies’ - meaning he committed one of the following offenses:
Surfed porn in his office
Did not upgrade to Vista as ordered
Dual booted his company PC with Linux
Bought a MAC for home
Used an IPod instead of his company issued Zune (which he couldn’t sync with other Zune users because it... Read Full Story
In an interview, Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop said that the browser-based editing capabilities are being developed in conjunction with the next version of Office, known as Office 14. Microsoft won’t say when that version will arrive, but Elop said that a technology preview of the browser-based products will come later this year and that a beta version will be released in 2009.
Microsoft will offer browser-based Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in two ways. For consumers... Read Full Story
Contrary to popular belief you can load xp on your new vista machine. Microsoft allows you to do this through emulation software. If you were to reformat then there is always the question of whether the drivers will load on the xp machine. This is because the hardware manufactures do not always create drivers for the xp software. More times than not if you were to do the traditional thing and reformat then you would have more problems than not.
Microsoft has created... Read Full Story

Microsoft confirmed they have started testing for a brand new product code-named "Albany" but would not offer any further details on the product, which may or may not be its ad-funded version of Works. In fact, Microsoft mentioned last year that it plans to test an ad-funded version of Works, following several years of exploring the idea . However, it is unclear whether Albany is in fact that product. The software maker already has its Office Live Workspaces product which lets people store... Read Full Story
I really like to watch technology presentations and demonstrations, especially on the TED website but also on other websites. I recently came upon a presentation for Microsoft’s Touchwall, an inexpensive rear-projection system.
The video below is a demonstration by Director of Envisioning Ian Sands who explains various features and the technique behind the Microsoft Touchwall product. The software used to run the show is called Plex running on the Vista plattform. The other equipment was a... Read Full Story
