The “ Arizona Republic ” reported Monday morning that according to “ multiple team sources ” that the Phoenix Suns have fired first year head coach Terry Porter and replaced him with assistant coach Alvin Gentry. The Suns currently have a record of 28-23. Porter was selected by Team President Steve Kerr as coach, after Phoenix dismissed previous head coach Mike D’Antoni at the end of last season. D’Antoni, who now is the ... Read Full Story

CHICAGO, IL — At his weekly press conference on Wednesday, Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf made some very interesting comments about the team’s personnel on the eve of the NBA Draft. “Everything’s great here,” he said. “We feel like we’re going to make the right selection tomorrow, and we feel like we’re going to have a legitimately competitive team next year. As soon as we finish our head coaching search – which should be shortly – we’ll be ready to go for next season.” The comments perplexed reporters in the room, who – like many others – were under the impression that the Bulls head ... After discussing LeBron's ascendancy last week, we watched him ascend further with a 52-point triple double against the New York Knicks, only two days after Kobe went for 61 at the Garden. In sports, everyone is a winner—some people just win better than others. Like Mike D'Antoni, whose Rich Little version of the Suns ran the real thing out of Madison Square Garden last night. The Knicks (who probably shouldn't be this bad) got a 27-10 out of Danilo Gallinari and dropped 126 points in all on the Suns (who probably shouldn't be this good). New York is still a mess. Donnie Walsh looks at Brandon Jennings and sighs, and D'Antoni...

There was a time when the Phoenix Suns bench featured Barbosa plus Diaw and, if it was really needed, a random towel-waver who could check in and play a few minutes replacing someone in foul trouble. Mike D'Antoni has always been a believer of the short rotation, something he's been criticized for (and probably rightly so) over the years. His Phoenix Suns never had more than an eight man rotation by design, not because of the actual quality of...
