Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Washington Redskins have signed free agent wide receiver Mike Furrey . Shefter also reports the Redskins released LB Alvin Bowen, DL Antoine Holmes, CB Marcus McCauley and TE Sean Ryan. Furrey will likely be the Redskins slot receiver while Santana Moss, Devin Thomas, and Malcolm Kelly played outside. The Detroit Lions signed free agent receiver Bryant Johnson to a three-year contract on Monday, adding the former first-round draft pick to complement rising star Calvin Johnson. The Redskins have placed receiver Mike Furrey on injured reserve because of a concussion, ruling him out for the season. The Redskins made the move Saturday before their game against the Ravens. Furrey hasn’t practiced since August 3rd, only a few days into training camp. The eight-year veteran signed with the Redskins as a free agent in June. Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer , the Browns have signed free agent wide receiver Mike Furrey . Terms were not disclosed. Before playing wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, who released him this off-season, Furrey started 11 games at safety for the St. Louis Rams in 2005. Former Browns Wide Receiver Mike Furrey signed with the Washington Redskins today. Furrey was signed to play Receiver for the team last season but played more on the defensive side of the ball. Furrey was a Walter Payton Man of the year Finalist last season.
