Breaking News: Mike Mussina -- What the hell is going on?!?!

By ITISHIGHITISFAR on  From johnsterling.blogspot.com
As the New York Yankees' front office continues to make offers to every available free agent, one little nugget o' news was lost in the shuffle yesterday. Mike Mussina announced on the website River Ave. Blues , in the comments section in a post about the Leyritz drunk driving incident, that he plans on playing in 2009 for the Bronx Bombers. Here is the quote from a certain "Mike from Montoursville": Mike from Montoursville says: November 17th, 2008 at 10:44 am "I couldn’t agree more with you...Read Full Story

Looking Back: Mike Mussina

By Kevin on  From zellspinstripeblog.com
Going into the offseason of 2000 and the looming free agency of Mike Mussina (147-81, 3.53 ERA to that point) had many Yankees fans licking their lips. Mussina grew up in a small town and played in an admittedly small market in Baltimore from 1991 until 2000 and there was some thought that Mussina wouldn’t fit in or he would not react well being in a big city with the type of media that the Yankees attract. Regardless, the Yankees decided to take the chance and they signed him for 6 years/$88...Read Full Story

Yankees decision to let Byrd pass by is puzzling

By jeff7168 on  From soxandpinstripes.com
So we still have Rasner in the rotation and Joba hasn't started throwing yet while Wang sits out for the season and Paul Byrd was somehow unappealing? Does this tell you the Yankees are as optimistic about making the playoffs as the fans should be? Let's play a game. Bobby Abreu, Carl Pavano, Andy Pettitte, Mike Mussina, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, Jason Giambi, Ivan Rodriguez, Xavier Nady, Jose Molina, Richie Sexson, Damaso Marte and Wilson Betemit all have contracts up before 2010...Read Full Story

Mike Mussina: Will he stay or will he go? End on a high note or chase 300 wins

By Kevin on  From zellspinstripeblog.com
Mike Mussina is dragging it on now in my opinion. I like the Moose, but I don’t want this to turn into something Brett Favre might do. haha. It’s either he wants to play or he doesn’t want to play. End on a  high note..or go after 300 wins? He has a lot to consider, but I think he would know what he wants to do by now. Mussina is expected to decide whether or not he is returning within the next few days..but some say his decision might be coming next week. I guess I am just anxious to know...Read Full Story

Do We Sign Mussina?

By The Oriole Post on  From oriolepost.blogspot.com
For the past week, I have heard a lot of talk on Mike Mussina and his free agency. Right now, in the position he's in, he can opt to join another team, or ride into the sunset and retire. The man won his 20th game on Sunday -- for the first time ever -- as the New York Yankees beat their arch-rivals, the Boston Red Sox. At 40, one might think he's got one good year or two left, as well might want to return next year to inch closer to 300, so the possibility is strong that he might return...Read Full Story

Mike Mussina deserves to be in the Hall of Fame

By Kevin on  From zellspinstripeblog.com
Mike Mussina (5X All-Star, 7X Gold Glove Winner) never won 300 games, he never won a Cy Young, or even get that World Series ring he always wanted, but he had one heck of a career. He compiled 270 Wins, a 3.68 Career ERA, and 2813 Strikeouts through 18 years in the major leagues. He didn’t play in any division, but he pitched in the powerhouse of baseball. The strongest division in baseball is where he spent his 18 seasons. So many championships have come out of the AL East, and it has proved...Read Full Story

Mike Mussina: Going Out On Top

By Josh Q. Public on  From joshqpublic.com
Of our elaborate plans, the end.  Of everything that stands, the end.  No safety or surprise, the end.  I’ll never look into your eyes…again.  -The Doors Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Happy trails Moose.  According to Joe Girardi , Mike Mussina said the words we thought we’d hear all along.  “Moose told me after the season that he was probably going to retire.”  If Mike meant what he said, and said what he meant, if a Moose is faithful one hundred percent, we won’t have...Read Full Story
