The Love Guru got a whopping 15% positive reviews from rotten tomatoes, once again proving that Asymmetric remains the repository of cinematic truth. For, The Love Guru is a wonderfully funny movie, in a way. It's about Maurice Pitka, a Deepak Chopra wannabe who is enlisted by the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs to heal the love-damaged hockey superstar Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) enough to win the championship. To do so, Maurice must take Roanoke's estranged wife, Prudence... Read Full Story

The Love Guru trailer

From:  bombippy.com
The Love Guru (2008) is the movie that Mike Myers shot in and around Toronto last summer. I took a few pictures of the set at the Scarborough Bluffs and wrote about it here . The official movie site for The Love Guru is one of the better movie sites that I've seen in a while. Generally, I dislike Flash websites but theloveguru.com is an outstanding example of how Flash can be used to enhance a website experience. It's hard to tell if this will be a hit from the trailer. A few of the... Read Full Story

The Day We All Stopped Laughing

With Mike Myers' career as a box office superstar mining comedy gold with each new film sputtering if not beginning to nose dive into terra firma, Ryan Zeinert at Film Wad has put together an excellent study on the moment in time when 15 famous comedians "lost their funny." I was immediately drawn to this for several reasons, chief among them that I use funny as a noun, as in "bring the funny," "lost their funny," etc. In fact, when saying pretty much the same thing we're... The Love Guru (2008)

This movie was such a waste of time and money. I could have given the 10 bucks to a homeless person and would have gotten more satisfaction. It is boring, makes no sense and it is really stupid and not funny at all. I wish I would have read comments before going thru that horrible experience. I went to see this movie expecting to laugh and have a good time based on the other movies this guy has done but since the very start it was leading nowhere, some people walked out, I figured I would... The Love Guru (2008)

Just when did Mike Myers stop being funny -- assuming he was ever funny in the first place. While he probably deserves his funnyman rep from Saturday Night Live and other stand-up gigs, his success as a film actor makes me wonder. The two Wayne's World movies have their moments. The three Austin Powers films were just about tolerable, if increasingly stupid. He was fine as the voice of Shrek, but the less said about his Cat in the Hat the better. In this self-penned effort, I seriously think... Read Full Story
